We have now to consider the efficient cause of Christ's Passion, concerning which there are six points of inquiry:
A Whether Christ was slain by others, or by Himself?
A From what motive did He deliver Himself up to the Passion?
A Whether the Father delivered Him up to suffer?
A Whether it was fitting that He should suffer at the hands of the Gentiles, or rather of the Jews?
A Whether His slayers knew who He was?
A Of the sin of them who slew Christ.
